Joshua & Macayla Fryc (Pronounced Fritz)

Boy meets girl. They fall in love. Boy says, “Let’s Farm.” Girl says, “Not a chance.” They chase their dreams across the world, end up on an Australian chicken farm, discover a passion for business-building and educating communities, and head back to the US to start this shindig. On returning, American food made them consistently sick and they realized that on top of the entrepreneurial side of things, there was a huge deficit in the integrity of the industrial food system. Drawers were hitched, pigs were ordered, and hands got dirty (truly filthy).

People look at you funny if you tell them you are a farmer, especially if you happen to be under the age of 50. They look at you even stranger if you’re under 40. It’s unbelievable if you’re under 30. With a mission and a vision, we are making the farm a lifestyle, business, and community. Slow food, pastured meat, beyond organic, sustainable agriculture, regenerative farming, real food movement - when you think of those, you can think of us.

It can be hard to explain in a 10 second sound byte why we choose what we do, but we’ll still try. It’s fundamentally important what we feed ourselves. And beyond the what we eat, it where we source it from, the affect it has on our bodies, and how the way it was grown impacts the invaluable natural world (and let’s be honest, it matters how it tastes, too).

When you believe in something as much as we believe in healing our food sources, you simply want to share it with others - and we want to share it with you.

Why would you want to be a farmer?

  1. We genuinely care about health. Sadly, food products today hide behind their marketing labels. We’re mislead into believing animals live wild and free, with blue sky in the great outdoors. Certifications make “heart-healthy” claims, and assure us food is “All Natural.” Even “Free-Range” has endless loopholes in the fine print. We don’t put our trust into any other type of advertising, so why does the food system get a pass?

  2. We genuinely care about our family and lifestyle. As any grower (plant, animal, or otherwise) can tell you, it’s spiritually, mentally, and emotionally healing to raise your own food and to do it with family. It goes beyond the “work/life balance” because this work is life and it makes life wonderful. We were designed to create, and farming is the stewardship we’ve been tasked with.

  3. We genuinely care about the environment. Want to pull the curtain back? Dip your toe in the water and start researching how conventional meat is raised. Google CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operation). Check out a documentary. Learn about the pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides that coat the produce aisle. Talk to your local growers and hear from an expert. The name Renovo means restoration, and since we want to see the health of both humans and the land restored, we’re choosing the farm the way we are - a way that’s healing for both.

  4. We’re being the change you wish to see in the world. Actions speak louder than words. Put your money where your mouth is.

  5. The choices you make reflect values, beliefs, and priorities. Health, nutrition, lifestyle, stewardship, and joy are our values, and every day we work at living them out. Sure it may mean stepping in a crapload of crap, but we wouldn’t have it any other way :).

Developing a farm is a daily challenge, but that’s half the fun and keeps us on our toes. Each day is a new opportunity to do something, make something, learn something, grow something, and change something, and we want you to join the journey.
